ABOUT
Over the last decade, Ian Pawelec has been creating art and developing the movement Expression of the Abstract. Inspired by the spiritual search we all experience, the style strives to convey the abstruse, the universe, and the energy that drives us and everything around us.
Early on, Pawelec was classically trained in painting, figurative drawing, and sculpture at Huntington School of Fine Arts. After which he studied fashion design at Pratt Institute, where he explored color, composition, and form. This was also the birth of Pawelec’s early abstract impressionist works.
In 2001 he painted his first piece dealing with an abstract concept Conflict. This work displays the convergence of good and evil, and that though apposing forces they are yet one and the same. Throughout the 2000s, the modus operandi developed further by virtue of other works such as Heart, Lungs, & Energy, a piece which examines the relationship between the physical and the spiritual.
Inspired by music and the progression of art in popular culture Pawelec’s art would continue to evolve while he worked as a graphic designer in apparel, marketing, and now fine art, as he contributes to catalogue production at Christie’s auction house.
Ian Pawelec is currently living and working in New York City while enjoying the successes of the Darkness and the Light collection as well as advancing his Expression of the Abstract movement.
